Gophers Don't Stand a Chance

Gopher Treatment

Active gopher mounds can tear up a beautiful lawn fast, and they don't go away on their own. Our gopher treatment program finds where they're active, treats the problem directly, and follows up to eradicate the problem for good.

THE OKLAHOMA GOPHER PROBLEM

Pocket Gophers in our service area: What You're Dealing With

The plains pocket gopher (Geomys bursarius) is the species most commonly encountered in our service area and throughout central Oklahoma. These are not the same as moles, gophers are robust, aggressive burrowers that feed primarily on roots, tubers, and underground plant material. A single gopher can excavate hundreds of feet of tunnel in a single season. Oklahoma's loamy and sandy soils, especially in residential areas with established landscaping and irrigation, are ideal gopher habitat. Watered lawns are particularly attractive because moist soil is easier to tunnel through and supports the root systems gophers feed on. If your neighbors are dealing with gophers, the population is almost certainly expanding in your direction. Gopher activity tends to peak in spring and fall when soil temperatures are moderate and food sources are most accessible, but in Oklahoma's mild climate, they remain active through much of the year.

THE PROBLEM

The Damage Gophers Do

Pocket gophers create damage on multiple levels:

Crescent-shaped mounds of excavated soil appear across the lawn, smothering grass and creating uneven, hazardous ground
Underground tunnels sever root systems across wide areas, killing turf from below even where no mounds are visible
Gopher feeding directly destroys plant roots, bulbs, and the root zones of trees and shrubs
Tunnel networks destabilize soil structure and can undermine irrigation lines, landscaping, and hardscape edges
Active colonies expand rapidly, what starts as a few mounds can become a widespread infestation within a single season
OUR APPROACH

Find It, Treat It, Follow Up

Effective gopher control requires an accurate read of the property before any treatment begins. We start with a careful walkthrough of your lawn and landscape to map all areas of active gopher activity, looking at fresh mounds, tunnel patterns, and soil disturbance to understand how widespread the problem is and where the primary activity zones are. From there, we apply a targeted treatment directly to the active tunnel system. We work strategically, focusing on active areas rather than treating the entire yard unnecessarily, for efficient, effective results. After the initial treatment, we schedule follow-up visits, up to two additional visits, to assess the results, address any remaining activity, and confirm that the problem is fully resolved. Gopher control is not a one-visit fix, and we don't pretend it is. Our follow-up commitment is what separates a lasting result from a temporary one.
